FAQs
What do I need to bring?
We supply pretty much everything you will need for your tour to be safe, fun and comfortable. However, don’t forget to bring along:
- your camera or alternatively use your phone camera and post some stunning social media pics during the tour;
- a jumper/sweater and long pants (it can get cold even in summer);
- a hat (wide-brimmed is best for sun protection), sunglasses and personal sunscreen;
- a raincoat if you have one, otherwise we can loan you a rain poncho. Tours will take place even if it is raining;
- enclosed walking shoes or sandals (not thongs/flip flops please) for bushwalks;
- a small backpack to carry your belongings, water, jacket etc. on the walks if you wish;
- swimming costume if you want to take a dip in the crystal clear water of Jervis Bay (we supply towels and some extra sunscreen).
What’s provided on the guided tours?
We try and provide everything you will need so you just have to relax. This includes:
- Binoculars and wildlife field guides so you don’t miss any of the action;
- Food on full day tours, including lunch at a local Pub restaurant and afternoon tea/coffee or cold drink and snack on the Kangaroo Valley and Jervis Bay tours;
- Bottled water – supplied at the start of the tour;
- Transport is in a luxury, leather-seated, air-conditioned 4-wheel drive, with spacious seating for up to 6 adult guests;
- Beach towels for Jervis Bay tour so guests can take a dip if they like;
- First Aid kit, sunscreen, hotspot WiFi and recharging cables are available in the Land Rover.
What level of fitness is required for the different tours?
All tours involve some amount of walking and therefore fitness as below:
- Kiama Nature Discovery Tour – moderate fitness if walking all the way to Minnamurra Falls which is steep and has stairs.
- Kangaroo Valley – minimal fitness required as only short level walks conducted.
- Jervis Bay – a moderate fitness level as the bushwalk is around 5 kms return but on mostly flat ground around the Jervis Bay shoreline.
What if it is raining or forecast for a scorching hot day – will the tours still run?
Yes – unless extreme weather is forecast the tours will still proceed in rain and on hot days. The rain can make the tours, especially the waterfalls, quite spectacular. Bring along a rain jacket if you have one, otherwise we can lend you one on the day.
Into The Wild Nature Tours Australia reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour in cases of extreme weather, road or park closures. The tour guide will contact you in advance if the tour needs to be cancelled. Please check your mobile phone or accommodation host for any messages on the day of your tour.
Should a guided tour not proceed, guests will be reimbursed a full refund for the tour, but otherwise shall have no claim whatsoever (including no claim for travel expenses or any other ‘out of pocket’ expenses) relating to the cancellation of a tour.
What is the booking process?
To make a booking or an enquiry, please contact Darren either by:

Once we know your tour dates and check availability, we will confirm with you and secure your booking with a credit card/PayPal or bank transfer deposit of 20% of the tour cost. This deposit is fully refundable if you need to cancel your booking 14 days or more from the departure date of the tour. If you need to cancel your booking less than 14 days before the tour departure date, the 20% deposit is forfeited as a cancellation charge.
Full payment of the remaining balance can be paid when you commence your tour, either by cash or card.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change for even the best organised trips so we will try and assist you, wherever possible, with other arrangements. If you need to cancel or change the date of your guided tour, the following cancellation policy applies:
- Less than 14 days prior to the date of your tour departure: your 20% deposit per person is forfeited as a cancellation charge;
- 14 days or more prior to date of your tour departure: full refund of 20% deposit.
All bookings require a 20% deposit by credit card, PayPal or bank transfer. You can pay the balance owing by cash or credit card when the tour starts.
Where do the tours depart?
Pickup location for all tours is at the Kiama Visitor Information Centre (Blowhole Point Road- just down from the Kiama Lighthouse and Blowhole), with car parking around that area usually available (check parking restrictions that may apply). The Visitor Centre is a 5 to 10-minute easy walk from Kiama Train Station if you are coming down from Sydney on Sydney Trains. Please contact Darren if you need a courtesy pickup from your accommodation in the Kiama area, as that could be pre-arranged.
Will I definitely see Australian wildlife on the tour?
We can’t guarantee that you will see a particular animal or plant on our tours as they are wild and may not show on your day. Having said that, we see kangaroos and/or wombats on our Jervis Bay and Kangaroo Valley tours almost 100% of the time !
Can I go swimming on the tour?
Yes…but only on the Jervis Bay tour where we spend some time on a ‘squeaky’ white sandy beach where you can take a supervised swim or just relax on the beach !
